I focused on water infrastructures for urban areas in an environmental engineering track, after studying social issues and inequalities in my Bachelor’s degree. As I had the opportunity to work with the state department for climate change adaptation planning in the area I lived in, I hoped to combine my interests in a multidisciplinary Master’s education. The Industrial Ecology programme enabled me to strengthen this lense.
In my thesis research project with the CUSP I will explore the long-term impacts of urban densification. At the case of the city of Amsterdam I want to dive into the socio-environmental dimensions to spotlight trade-offs of the societal transitions the city (and others) want(s) to achieve. This research allows me to link my interest in urban planning and development with Industrial Ecology’s understanding of the interconnectivity of socio-technical systems.
